The rules, step by step
- The dice are shaken and every phone shows the same grid.
- Trace a word through letters that touch — sideways, up, down or corner to corner.
- No letter twice in one word. Three letters or more (four on the big board).
- Longer is worth much more: 5 letters scores 2, seven scores 5, eight or more scores 11.
- Anything two of you found is crossed out for both. The obvious word is the wasted one.
Scoring and the fiddly bits
What counts as a path
Letters have to touch, diagonals included, and no cell may be used twice in one word. A typed word still needs a real path to exist.
Scoring by length
Three or four letters score 1, five scores 2, six scores 3, seven scores 5, and eight or more scores 11. The 5×5 board starts counting at four letters.
Duplicates
A word two or more players found is worth nothing to any of them. It is not deleted, only struck through when the lists go public.
Wrong guesses
Three free misses a round by default, then a point each. Only unknown words and off-grid paths count — too short and already-found are free.
The weekly grid
A fixed 5×5 with a three-minute clock, scored as the union of both lists. Nothing cancels, nothing is penalised, and each player runs it once a week.
Questions about Boggle
Is Boggle free?
Yes. Every game on Table Party is free, with no accounts, no adverts and nothing to buy.
How many people do you need for Boggle?
Between 2 and 12. Below 2 there are not enough of you for the game to work.
Do we need to download anything?
No. One person opens the site and starts a room; everybody else joins by typing the room code on their own phone. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.
Can we play Boggle over a video call?
Yes. Share the room code in the chat and play with the call running — everything private stays on each player’s own phone.
Play Boggle online
Free, in the browser, with everyone on their own phone.
