The rules, step by step
- On your turn you either take cards or sell them. Never both.
- Take one good from the market, or take every camel in it, or trade two or more cards for the same number of goods.
- Selling takes tokens off the top of that stack — the first trader to sell diamonds gets the 7, the last gets the 5.
- Sell three, four or five at once for a face-down bonus token. Nobody sees what it is worth until the round is scored.
- Seven cards in hand, maximum. Camels sit in your herd instead and never count.
- The round ends when three token stacks run dry, or when the market cannot be refilled.
- Most camels takes a bonus 5. Highest total takes the round — win two and the match is yours.
Scoring and the fiddly bits
The four moves
Take one good from the market; take every camel in it; trade two or more cards for the same number of goods; or sell. Nothing else is a turn, and there is no pass.
What a sale pays
Tokens come off the top of the stack, so the first sale of a good is the best one: diamonds run 7, 7, 5, 5, 5, and leather runs 4, 3, 2 and then a row of 1s.
Minimum sales
Diamond, gold and silver must be sold two or more at a time. Cloth, spice and leather can go one by one.
The camel bonus
Whoever ends the round with strictly more camels takes a flat 5 rupees. Level herds pay nobody.
Tie-breaks for the seal
Level on rupees, the seal goes to most bonus tokens, then most goods tokens, then most camels. Level on all four and nobody takes it.
