The rules, step by step
- Tap a tile on your rack, then tap the square you want it on. Tap it again to take it back.
- The first word crosses the star. Every word after it has to touch one already down.
- The bar above your rack names every word you are making and what the play scores.
- Premium squares only count the turn a tile lands on them — and word premiums multiply together.
- A blank can be any letter and always scores nothing. Using all seven tiles pays fifty.
- Out of ideas? Swap tiles or pass — but six scoreless turns in a row ends the game.
- Play your last tile with an empty bag and you take what is left on everybody else’s rack.
Scoring and the fiddly bits
Placing tiles
Tap a tile, then tap its square; tap it again to lift it. Nothing is committed until you play the word, and an illegal play is refused rather than scored.
How a play scores
Letter premiums first, then every fresh word premium in the play multiplied together. A blank contributes nothing wherever it sits.
The bingo
Laying all seven tiles in one turn adds fifty points on top of everything the play already scores.
Exchanging and passing
You may swap any number of tiles while the bag still holds seven or more. Both cost your turn and count towards the six scoreless turns that end the game.
The weekly board
The weekly sprint always has the dictionary on, stops after six plays wherever the board has got to, and applies no rack adjustment.

How many people do you need for Word Tiles?
Between 2 and 4. Below 2 there are not enough of you for the game to work.
Do we need to download anything?
No. One person opens the site and starts a room; everybody else joins by typing the room code on their own phone. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.
