Drawing and acting games

Three of these are drawn with a finger and one is acted out with your whole body, and none of the four needs you to be good at drawing — only quick, or sly, or willing to look silly.

Bad Drawings gives everybody their own canvas. You get a prompt nobody else has seen, you draw it badly, and everyone else invents a title that could pass for whatever you produced — then the room votes, and you score for every player your lie catches.

Art Fraud puts the whole table on one canvas instead. Everyone is dealt the same word except one player, who gets only the category, and you each add a single unbroken line in your own colour, twice round. Draw it well and you have handed the faker the word.

Scribble Race is the quick one. The drawer picks one of three words, everybody else races to type it while letters drop into the blanks, and faster guesses score more. Charades puts the pen down altogether: a deck of over a thousand films, shows and famous people, acted out in silence.

Three to draw, one to act out

Playing in under a minute

  1. 1One person opens tableparty.io on a phone or a laptop and picks a game.
  2. 2Everyone else types the four-letter room code on their own phone. Nothing to install.
  3. 3Play. Anything secret stays on your own screen, so it works across a table or a video call.

Questions about Drawing and acting games

Do I need to be able to draw?

The opposite. Bad Drawings is won by the titles people invent for the mess, and in Art Fraud a clear drawing is a mistake — render the word too well and the one player who cannot see it works out what it is.

What is the difference between the three drawing games?

Bad Drawings gives every player their own prompt and picture, and the vote is on titles. Art Fraud gives the whole table one word and one picture, and the vote is on people. Scribble Race has one drawer at a time and no vote, just a race to type the word.

Where do the words come from?

Charades deals from five packs of 230 and remembers what your room has already acted. Scribble Race offers the drawer three words to choose from each turn, and Art Fraud deals a single word to everybody except the faker, who gets the category.

Can we play without everybody joining on a phone?

Charades has a pass-and-play mode that runs on one device, which suits a game where the room is looking at the actor anyway. The three drawing games need a phone each.
