The rules, step by step
- Everyone answers the same question, trying to match the crowd — not to be clever.
- Matching answers are grouped. The biggest herd all score a point.
- Answer alone while everyone else agrees and you are handed the Pink Cow.
- The Pink Cow moves on when somebody else stands out — but you cannot win while holding it.
- First to eight points takes it, cow permitting.
Scoring and the fiddly bits
Scoring
One point per player in the single largest group. Nothing else scores, and a tie for largest scores nothing at all.
How answers are matched
Case, accents, punctuation and a leading article are folded away, and a trailing plural drops when at least four letters survive. Word order, spelling and synonyms are left alone.
When the cow changes hands
Only on an exact split: one lone answer against everybody else agreeing. A three-way disagreement hands it to nobody.
Winning
First to the target the host set — five, eight or twelve — as long as they are not holding the cow. If they are, the game carries on without them.
The ceiling
Twenty rounds is the hard stop. Whoever is highest and free of the cow at that point takes it.

How many people do you need for Herd Think?
Between 3 and 12. Below 3 there are not enough of you for the game to work.
Do we need to download anything?
No. One person opens the site and starts a room; everybody else joins by typing the room code on their own phone. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.
Can we play Herd Think over a video call?
Yes. Share the room code in the chat and play with the call running — everything private stays on each player’s own phone.
