What Bazaar is
Two traders, one market. Sell first for the best prices, sell big for the bonus — two rules that pull opposite ways on every turn.
The token stacks pay from the top down: the first trader to sell diamonds banks a 7, the last banks a 5. Selling three, four or five at once earns a bonus token instead — and building a pile that big is exactly how you end up selling last.
Camels are why it is not solitaire. They never score on their own, but every camel you take is a card your rival cannot trade with — and sweeping them refills the market with five fresh goods for them to pick from.
Those bonus tokens arrive face down and stay that way, so nobody learns what a big sale was really worth until the round is scored. A trader holding three of them is frightening rather than merely ahead.

How to play Bazaar
- On your turn you either take cards or sell them. Never both.
- Take one good from the market, or take every camel in it, or trade two or more cards for the same number of goods.
- Selling takes tokens off the top of that stack — the first trader to sell diamonds gets the 7, the last gets the 5.
- Sell three, four or five at once for a face-down bonus token. Nobody sees what it is worth until the round is scored.
- Seven cards in hand, maximum. Camels sit in your herd instead and never count.
- The round ends when three token stacks run dry, or when the market cannot be refilled.
- Most camels takes a bonus 5. Highest total takes the round — win two and the match is yours.
How to win at Bazaar
A lone diamond is dead weight
Diamonds, gold and silver can never be sold one at a time, so the first one you take is worth nothing until it has a partner.
Don’t sweep camels for free
Taking the herd hands your opponent five fresh goods, so only do it when the market has nothing you want anyway.
Count the empty stacks
Three dry goods stacks ends the round on the spot, so once two are gone you sell what you are sitting on.
Sell the cheap goods early
Leather pays 4 to the first seller and 1 to the fourth, so hoarding it is how it stops being worth anything.
Trades are how you go big
Swapping is the only move that takes more than one good at once, which is the only way to reach a five-card sale.
Seven cards is a hard ceiling
Camels sit in your herd and never count, but goods do — and a hand of seven can no longer take a card from the market.
Questions about Bazaar
What are the face-down bonus tokens worth?
A sale of three pays 1 to 3, a sale of four pays 4 to 6, and a sale of five or more pays 8 to 10. They are drawn blind and stay face down, so even the trader who won it only learns the number at scoring.
How does a round end?
The moment a third goods token stack runs dry, or the moment the market cannot be topped back up to five. The trader who empties the deck does not get another turn.
How is the match won?
Each round awards a seal of excellence, and two seals takes the match — the host can set one or three instead. A dead-level round awards no seal at all, so the match is capped at twice the target.
Can I trade camels?
You can give them: camels handed back go straight into the market as cards. You can never take them in a trade, and because giving them grows your hand, a nearly full hand limits how big a swap you can make.
